ADB Approves USD 7.5 Million for KPHSSP

Peshawar (Manend News)The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the disbursement of USD 7.5 million under Loan No. 4222-PAK (COL), marking a significant achievement for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Systems Strengthening Program (KPHSSP) supporting the Mega project Revamping of NonTeachingDHQ hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Health department.

This disbursement reflects the progress made in achieving Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) 1, 2, 3, and 5, aligning the program with Secondary Revamp Project to improve secondary healthcare services across the province in DHQ Hospitals.

Under DLI 5, 85% of essential medical equipment across SHC hospitals is available, tagged, and fully functional and has liquidated 10 million USD paid in advance.

The ADB’s disbursement brings the program back “on-track” after being previously marked as “at-risk,” ensuring continued support for critical healthcare improvements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials from the Planning and Development Department (P&DD) and health sector stakeholders hailed this development as a turning point for the program.

The success stems from a collaborative approach initiated in November 2023, with decisive actions taken during a meeting co-chaired by senior officials in Finance and Health Department.

This approval underscores ADB’s confidence in the GoKP’s efforts to strengthen health infrastructure, improve service delivery, and modernize equipment across secondary healthcare facilities
