TIMERGARA, (MANEND NEWS): Timergara Medical College (TMC) project director Dr Shaukat Ali distributed appointment letters among 136 employees of the college at a function held here on Monday.

Besides others, District Health Officer Dr Irshad Rughani, Timergara Teaching Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Asghar Ali, DMS Dr Sheraz Ahmad and local elders attended the ceremony.

Hundreds of local youth and political activists held several protest rallies during the last few days against what they called irregularities in the recruitment process. Some of the candidates had also challenged the process in the court which had been rejected.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shaukat Ali, who is also regional health director of Malakand division, said that establishment of a medical college in the district was a big achievement of the government.

He said that successful candidates qualified test and interview. He said that the recruitment process was completed transparently. He said that some elements opposed the project by levelling baseless allegations against him as they did not want development of the district.

Dr Shaukat said that he did not appoint his relatives but all of the recruited youth belonged to poor families. He said that his opponents filed three separate petitions in the court against the recruitment but all were rejected.

He asked the newly-posted employees of TMC to remain committed, devoted and dutiful and serve the people of the district. He thanked the local PTI lawmakers for playing an important role in the establishment of the medical college and supported him.
