KABUL, (MANEND NEWS): An important member of the Taliban
negotiation team in Doha, Muhammad Sohail Shaheen has said that
the Liaison Committee of PO for United Nations and international
organizations headed by Abdul Haq Wasiq met with Steve Brooking,
Deputy Head of UNAMA.
In a series of tweets on Sunday Sohail Shaeen said that during the
meeting, the recent incident of UNAMA office in Guzra district of Herat
province was discussed.
He said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) delegation
reiterated its policy that IEA is committed to protection of UN and all
humanitarian organisations and public institutions in its control areas.
Both sides expressed the damage caused to UNAMA office was
regrettable and it was emphasized that such incidents should not be
used as a tool for propaganda and political gains in the conflict.
The UNAMA representative said that they will share maps and
information of their offices with IEA in future for safety reasons.
Meanwhile according to another statement issued by Sohail Shaheen,
on Sunday, Abdul H. Wasiq, Head of the European Section of the PO,
IEA and his accompanying delegation held meeting with Dr. Jasper
Wieck, Special Representative of Germany for Afghanistan and his
accompanying delegation in Doha.
Both sides discussed the ongoing situation of Afghanistan, peace
process and Germany’s assistance for development of Afghanistan.
The IEA delegation appreciated the humanitarian and development
assistance of Germany and requested these assistance continue in
future as well.
IEA is committed to safety and protection of development projects and
their staff. The German delegation on its part assured about
commitment for reconstruction of Afghanistan.
