5-day anti-polio campaign launched in Chitral

CHITRAL, (MANEND NEWS): Anti-polio campaign has been started in lower Chitral. The campaign will be continue for three days while there will be two days of catch-up in which polio drops will be administered to those children who are left behind during the three-days campaign. Health department officials , LHW, walk on snowy roads door to door to administer polio drops to children under the age of five, while they also giving them vitamin A capsules to prevent the children from diseases District According to District Health Officer Dr. Fayaz Rumi and EPI Co-ordinator Dr. Farman Nizar, their target in this campaign will be to administer polio drops to 45,676 children while 4,720 children will not be administered polio drops this time because they live in such places where All roads are closed due to heavy snowfall

In Lower Chitral, 25 fixed centres has been arranged where health staff will also administer polio drops to the childfren. Likewise, 308 mobile teams are participating in this campaign, which will go door-to-door to administer polio drops to children. Polio drops will also be administered at 14 transit points, where people coming from down districts at bus, taxi stand, etc. That means children under five years of age will be administered polio drops at these transit points along with passengers coming from outside. Children staying in hotels, bases, markets within Chitral city will be vaccinated against polio. 8 roaming teams have been formed for these purposes to administer drops. This campaign will be continue till January 20. Dr. Ziaullah Khan, District Coordinator of LHW Program along with his team visited the snow-covered areas of Shughur, Seewakht etc. and after reviewing the polio campaign he expressed his satisfaction. He also urged the parents to give two drops of polio to their children under five years of age and protect them from lifelong disability. Talking to our correspondent on this occasion, the women of the area and the lady health workers working in the polio campaign also said that despite the severe cold, they leave their houses and go door to door to give drops to the children, so parents should also cooperate with these staff. They should cooperate with the polio team and give polio drops to their children. They said that by not getting these drops, their children may be crippled for the rest of their lives, which will create a big problem for girls, so in every polio campaign, they must give two polio drops to their children so as to avoid their beloved children will be not disabled and Avoid being a burden on others. The DHO gave a message on this occasion that in case the polio team does not reach an area, then they must report it to his office so that another team can be arranged for that area and Chitral, which is a polio-free district. This standard can be maintained.
