Foxconn Adjusts Production to Build More iPhone 14 Pro Units

(MANEND NEWS): Apple’s new-generation iPhones are now shipping to customers across the world, but the early sales figures are good news for certain models and bad news for others.

This is because the standard iPhone 14 doesn’t seem to perform too well, whereas the Pro models are the ones getting all the love from customers out there.

And according to a report from Business Standard, Apple has requested Foxconn to increase the production of the iPhone 14 Pro in order to meet the current demand for this particular model.

As a result, Foxconn has disabled some iPhone 14 production lines in order to prepare them for the production of the iPhone 14 Pro.

The production adjustment doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed earlier this month that Apple requested Foxconn to build more Pro models following strong demand for this particular configuration.

“Due to strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models, my latest survey indicates that Apple has asked Hon Hai to switch the production lines of the iPhone 14 to the iPhone 14 Pro models, which will help improve Apple’s product mix/iPhone ASP in 4Q22,” Ming-Chi Kuo said in a tweet earlier this month.

“Based on the production line conversion rate, it’s equivalent to an increase in the shipment forecast of iPhone 14 Pro models in 4Q22 by about 10%. Only a few component suppliers’ order changes currently reflect Hon Hai’s production line conversion (e.g., Samsung Display),” the analyst continued. “I expect that most of the suppliers should also receive order increase requests for iPhone 14 Pro models from Apple in the next few weeks.”

Apple has obviously remained tight-lipped on these production adjustments, but the change makes perfect sense given the company itself is betting so big on the Pro models, both in the short and in the long term.
