ISLAMABAD (Manend News)The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested 29 individuals, all Pakistanis except one Iranian national, attempting to enter Iran illegally via sea route. FIA’s Composite Circle in Gwadar district of Balochistan took the action and the accused were taken into custody in the coastal area of Jiwani, a spokesperson of the premier investigation agency said. Of those arrested, six were from Bannu district, five from Malakand, and two from Buner—all located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)—while four were from Faisalabad district in Punjab. As many as four accused also hailed from Khanewal and Multan districts in Punjab. The spokesperson said that an Iranian national was also arrested while other accused belonged to Karachi, KP’s Waziristan area and Punjab’s Hafizabad and Wazirabad districts. According to the initial investigation, the accused were planning to use Iran as a transit route for their onward illegal journey to Europe and other developed countries. “Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway,” the spokesperson said.
