33 suspects arrested during crackdown

TAXILA, (MANEND NEWS): Police have arrested 33 suspects, among them eight drug traffickers, during a crackdown against anti-social elements and seized narcotics weighing 10.61kg from their possession.

Talking to newsmen on Monday, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Taxila circle ASP Kainat Azhar Khan said a crackdown was launched against drug trafficking mafia operating in the rural and urban areas of Taxila and Wah.

During the operation, police successfully arrested eight drug traffickers and recovered hashish weighing 10.61kg from their possession.

Sharing details, ASP Khan said Taxila police seized 1.72kg hashish from a drug trafficker named Shakeel, 1.56kg hashish from Adnan, 1.51kg hashish from Mohammad Gul, 0.07kg hashish from Naveed and 0.6kg hashish from Yousaf. Similarly, Wah Saddar police recovered 2.2kg hashish from Tariq, 1.8kg hashish from Asad Ali and 0.52kg hashish from Zahir Mehmood.

She said Wah Saddar police, during a successful raid on a gambling den, arrested nine gamblers red-handed and seized bet money amounting to Rs36,000, six mobile phones and gambling tools.

She said Taxila police also arrested 16 people for violating the marriage and sound system act and seized the sound system equipment from a wedding venue.

Meanwhile Attock city police busted a two-member gang and recovered two stolen motorcycle rickshaws and nine motorcycles.

According to a police spokesman, police through human intelligence picked up Shahid Pervaiz and Usman Siddiqui, who during interrogation confessed to stealing motorcycles and motorcycle rickshaws from different parts of the district.
