(MANEND NEWS): Here’s your first look at Tiger 3, the latest installment in producer Aditya Chopra’s YRF Spy Universe, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
The movie is directed by filmmaker Maneesh Sharma. The YRF’s spy universe has also included the first two Tiger films – Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), alongside spin-offs War (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff and Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
Released in January, Pathaan has become the highest-grossing Hindi-language film of all time, grossing $128.8M worldwide.
“Over the last decade, Tiger had become perhaps the most iconic character in Bollywood. And getting the opportunity to take over the reins, to take his story forward came with an inexplicable excitement,” Sharma said.
“I really enjoyed every bit of it because I wanted to give something new to the audience after they have seen Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai, films that were helmed by Kabir Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar. So, there is always that excitement to bring a new voice and tone to a franchise that is well built already and I’m looking forward to the reaction of the people to our distinct take.”
Screenplay was written by Shridhar Raghavan, Anay Om Goswamy served as DoP, associate producers are Rishabh Chopra, executive producers are Sudhanshu Kumar and Sanjay Shivalkar while Mayur Sharma is on production design. Filmmaker Sharma is perhaps best known for his 2010 feature Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) alongside 2016’s Fan and Fanaa (2006).
“With Tiger 3, I wanted to be true to the character, but also bring my own tone and voice into his portrayal,” Sharma said of his work on the pic. “Of course, I want to portray Tiger like I’ve seen him as a fan – larger than life, towering over you with his star power. I am also excited that I get to add a deeper layer to his journey.”
Sharma added: “I’m feeling the palpable energy of people who are eagerly waiting to see their favorite superstars, Salman Khan, and Katrina Kaif, back in action in a film that celebrates their on-screen personas Tiger and Zoya – two super-agents who would do anything to protect their family and humanity.”
