ISLAMABAD, (MANEND NEWS): Former prime minister and Senior Vice
President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan
Abbasi has said that Supreme Court of Pakistan can not change the
Article 226 of the Constitution. He said that the SC should have to
make decisions very wisely otherwise tomorrow every government will
start changing the constitution through ordinance. He said that if
senate vote will be held it will be secret and if system has to be
changed then for this constitutional amendment is required, adding
that nowhere in the world vote is open. He said that the current
government caused Rs 150 billion loss to country while not purchasing
LNG during the current winter season. He said that during the PML-N
government’s tenure per liter tax on petroleum products was Rs 15 but
during the Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf (PTI) government tax on per liter
petroleum products has reached Rs. 40.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said
that PTI government has purchased costly LNG from Qatar as
compared to PML-N, adding that in past people of PTI were used to say
Pakistan did not need LNG but it is good thing that they have realized
today that LNG is need of Pakistan and it has to be purchased from
Qatar. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that if he had purchased costly LNG
then NAB should file another reference against him.
He said that if it has been written in the agreement that the
agreement could be reviewed after four years then it is very costly
agreement, adding that the agreement made by PML-N is public and
PTI should also make the agreement public which it has recently
signed with Qatar regarding the purchase of LNG. He said that PTI
should tell the masses how the cost was fixed while purchasing the
LNG.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that PML-N could have secured four
general seats of senate from Punjab but it could have been done
through a manner in which we could not want to indulge. He said that
due to large number of MPAs there is less chance of rigging in senate
election in Punjab.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that if the people will vote according to
their conscience the Makhdoom Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani could be
elected senator from Islamabad seat. He said that if government
wants to investigate the matter of video scandal, in which Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa assembly members were seen taking money for previous
senate election, then it should have to form parliamentary committee
for this purpose. He said that commission has to be set up for the
investigation of the video scandal. He said that the current
government had purchased 14 senators during the no-confidence
motion against the chairman senate. He said that beneficiary of the
purchase of the 14 senate votes is even chairman senate today. He
said that senate committee should be formed which should investigate
how was purchaser of the votes.
